1% giving back - built into our operating model.

LuMay commits 1% of company time and 1% of platform capacity to nonprofits, education programs, and public-sector partners. Not a CSR side-project - wired into the operating model from day one.

The 1% Commitment

We promise two things, every year, in writing:

  • 1% of company time - every LuMay employee gets one full working week per year (or equivalent fractional time) dedicated to nonprofit, education, or public-sector work, on company time.
  • 1% of platform capacity - qualifying partners get free access to LuMay agents and Academy curricula, allocated quarterly. Compute, model usage, and support hours included.

The commitment is reviewed quarterly by the LuMay leadership team and published annually in our impact report. We don't under-allocate when growth is slow, and we don't over-allocate when it's fast - the commitment is exactly 1%, every cycle.

How Partners Apply

We accept applications from nonprofits, accredited education programs (universities, bootcamps, K-12 partnerships), and public-sector teams (typically state and local government). Applications open twice a year, and we review on a rolling basis after that.

A short application - usually 30–45 minutes to fill out - covers your mission, the specific workflow you want to apply AI to, and the team that would use it day-to-day. We aim to respond within 10 business days.

Active Programs (Selected Examples)

University AI Engineering Coursework

We partner with select universities to integrate LuMay Academy curricula into their AI engineering coursework. Students get hands-on time with production-grade agent infrastructure - not just toy notebooks.

Nonprofit Operational AI

Mid-sized nonprofits (typically $5M–$50M annual budget) get LuMay agents to automate operational workflows - case management, donor communications, grant reporting. We pair each engagement with an Academy cohort so the team can operate independently after the engagement ends.

Public-sector Accessibility

State and local government teams use Voice Agents to expand accessibility - multi-language intake lines, after-hours service availability, accessible communication for residents with disabilities.

Our Principles

  • No press releases without permission. We don't use community partners as marketing material. We share outcomes only with explicit, written consent.
  • Capacity, not charity. Partners get the same agents, the same Academy, the same support hours as our paying customers - just allocated under the 1% bucket.
  • Independent operation as the goal.Every engagement aims to leave the partner's team able to operate the agents independently. If they want to continue with paid LuMay support afterward, that's their call - not the expectation.
  • Honest scope. If we can't deliver real value in the 1% allocation, we say so. Better to redirect partners to a more capable provider than to half-ship something that wastes their time.
Community programs are part of LuMay's operating model - not a separate function. Built in from day one, reviewed every quarter, and held to the same execution standard as our paying engagements.
