Texas buyers have plenty of AI vendors to choose from. The harder part is separating firms with a real Texas presence from firms that simply rank a "Texas" landing page.
This list includes only companies whose own website shows a Texas office or headquarters as of October 28, 2026. For each one we note what the firm says it does and who it seems best suited to.
Why a Texas Presence Can Matter
Remote delivery works well for many AI projects. Still, a local office helps in a few situations.
● Kickoffs and architecture reviews held in person
● Central Time overlap for daily standups
● State or municipal procurement that favors in-state vendors
● Industry context in energy, healthcare, logistics or finance
If none of these apply, widen your search to national firms. Our roundup of AI development companies in the USA is a good starting point.
How We Evaluated
We did not run projects with these firms or score their delivery. The list is built on criteria a buyer can check.
● Texas office or headquarters shown on the firm's own site
● AI, machine learning or generative AI listed as a current service
● Clear description of the work types offered
● A live website reviewed on October 28, 2026
● Mix of firm sizes and cities, so different buyers find a fit
Numbering is for navigation only. We omitted client names, awards and figures the firms publish, since we could not check them independently.

Red Flags During Vendor Calls
A few warning signs show up early. Note them during first calls and weigh them before price.
● The Texas office is a mailing address, and nobody local joins the call
● The proposal promises accuracy figures before seeing your data
● Evaluation is described as "user acceptance testing" with no test set
● Prompts and configuration are treated as the vendor's property
● Running costs are left for "after launch"
None of these rules a firm out on its own. Together, they suggest the project will drift.
Budget Beyond the Build
Ask each firm to separate three costs: discovery, build and ongoing operation. Operation includes model usage, hosting, monitoring and changes when models update.
A cheap build with high running costs can cost more within a year than a pricier build designed for efficiency.
Our Own Product
Disclosure: LuMay publishes this blog and is not ranked in this list. LuMay is an AI development company building agents, LLM and RAG systems for enterprises. Judge it against the same criteria as the firms above.
How to Shortlist Three Firms
Start with your use case, not the vendor. Then narrow the list with a few filters.
- Write one paragraph describing the workflow and the outcome you need
- Decide whether on-site presence is required or just preferred
- Pick three firms whose stated focus matches your sector
- Send each one the same brief and the same questions
- Compare their answers before you compare prices
Questions to Ask Every Firm
● Which named people would staff the work, and from which city?
● What will we own at the end: code, prompts, evaluation sets?
● How do you test AI output before we accept it?
● What do running costs look like after launch?
● Can we speak with a client who ran a similar project?
A written statement of work makes these answers enforceable. Our guide to AI agent development explains what a scoped build involves.
Practical Example
A Houston distributor wants AI to read supplier invoices and flag mismatches. Its shortlist favors firms with OCR and document extraction work, such as Vizflo and Ingenia, and one general firm for comparison.
Each receives 50 sample invoices and the same question list. The buyer compares extraction accuracy, proposed handover and running costs before discussing price.
Next Step
Write your one-paragraph brief, pick three firms and send the same questions to all of them. If you want an outside view of your shortlist, contact the LuMay engineering team.
